Honorary Life President Appointed
To recognise the more than 20 years involvement that Fiona Chapman MBE DL has had with the Forest of Marston Vale, she has been appointed Honorary Life President of the Forest of Marston Vale Trust. Fiona was one of the original people who promoted and fought for the area to be designated as one of England’s 12 Community Forests. As a Councillor originally with South Bedfordshire District Council and then with Central Bedfordshire Council, she has been a great advocate and supporter of the Forest of Marston Vale and of the independent charitable Trust that was set up to take the initial vision forward. She stepped down as a Trustee from the Forest of Marston Vale Trust at its recent AGM on Wednesday 23rd November, having been a Trustee since the beginning and spending many years as its Chairman. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers by the current Chairman of the Trust, Debbie Hassall.
Nick Webb as the current CEO of the FoMVT Charity commented – “Fiona’s drive, commitment, enthusiasm and support of the Trust and its work in creating the Forest will be really missed by us all. She was truly one of the visionaries, who at the very beginning of the project could see the potential benefits of creating a Forest across the Marston Vale, believed that it could be delivered and helped it gain widespread political support and for that we are all eternally grateful.”
