Thank you Co-op!
Back in October last year we told you that the Co-op store in Marston Moretaine had chosen the Forest of Marston Vale as one of the 3 local charities to benefit from their newly launched Local Community Fund. We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been awarded an amazing £1472.74 from the Fund, which we’re going to be spending on children’s Forest Explorer Packs that schools and community groups can use when visiting our Forest Centre. The Forest Explorer Packs, including Minibeast Detectives and the Magic of Trees, will give teachers and group leaders activities, equipment and games to educate, excite and inspire children about the Forest and its wildlife. At the moment we offer Ranger-led tours to these groups, but these are limited as we only have two Rangers. These new Forest Explorer Packs will mean that lots more school and community groups will be able to visit for an interactive, hands-on educational experience.
There’s more good news to share as we are going to receive more funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund in their current round which is running from now until October. So if you live within 15 miles of the Forest Centre in Marston Moretaine you can choose to support our charity simply by shopping in your local Co-op. You need to become a Co-op member and then show your membership card at the till every time you shop – 1% of your spend will go to the Forest of Marston Vale and 5% comes back to you.
So if you’re already a member of the Co-op, click here to choose the Forest of Marston Vale as your local charity to support.
If you’re not a member, joining is very easy – click here or pick up a membership form from the Co-op next time you’re shopping.
So a very big thank you from us to all of you who contributed to the Local Community Fund and helped to raise money for us! We’d love you to support us again and help us raise more money for vital resources to help us keep the Forest growing!
